Cement Production Line and Factory Setup

A cement production line is a complete industrial system designed to crush, grind, homogenise, burn and grind clinker into cement under controlled process conditions. The line produces Portland and blended cements for construction markets.

From an industrial perspective, cement manufacturing is important because it combines accurate raw-material proportioning, efficient grinding, controlled high-temperature clinkerisation and reliable finish grinding to achieve consistent strength, setting time and quality. The process relies on a defined sequence of unit operations that must be correctly engineered, sized and integrated.

Primary materials typically include limestone, clay, silica, iron sources and gypsum. The core machinery set consists of jaw and cone crushers, raw mills, rotary kilns (around 1450 °C), clinker mills and bagging machines (around 50 bags/min).

The Industrial Department supports investors who want to establish a new cement plant as well as existing operators who need repair, overhaul, capacity expansion or automation of their current lines. Projects can start from an empty site or from an operating facility that requires technical upgrading.

Whether the goal is a green-field turnkey cement plant in Iraq, Kurdistan Region, Afghanistan or other regional markets, or the modernization of an existing line in Iran, engineering, machinery supply or manufacturing, installation, commissioning and ongoing technical support can be provided under defined contractual scopes.

Production Line Overview

The cement line is engineered as an integrated process system covering raw-material extraction and preparation, crushing, raw grinding, homogenisation, clinker burning in the rotary kiln, clinker grinding with gypsum and packaging. Design capacity is determined during the engineering phase and can typically range from 50 to 500 tonnes per day for smaller plants.

Main machinery groups include crushers, raw mills, rotary kilns, clinker mills and bagging machines. Supporting infrastructure covers electrical power, fuel/gas and process water.

Manpower requirements depend on the degree of automation. Quality control covers chemical composition, fineness, strength and setting time.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Raw Material Preparation – Limestone, clay and correctives are crushed.
  2. Raw Grinding and Homogenisation – Materials are ground and homogenised.
  3. Clinker Burning – Raw meal is burned in a rotary kiln at around 1450 °C.
  4. Clinker Grinding – Clinker is ground with gypsum.
  5. Packaging – Cement is bagged (around 50 bags/min) or loaded in bulk.

Machinery & Equipment

  • Crushers and Raw Mill – Prepare the raw meal. Position: first stages. Importance: particle size and chemistry. Quality impact: incomplete grinding affects burnability. Maintenance: liners, media and drives. Sahi Rasa support covers design, installation, repair and spare parts.
  • Rotary Kiln – Burns clinker at around 1450 °C. Position: core stage. Importance: clinker quality and capacity. Quality impact: incorrect temperature or residence time affects strength. Maintenance: refractories, seals and burners.
  • Clinker Mill – Grinds clinker with gypsum. Position: after kiln. Importance: fineness and setting properties. Quality impact: incorrect fineness affects performance. Maintenance: liners, media and separators.
  • Bagging Machine – Packs cement. Position: end of line. Importance: logistics and presentation. Quality impact: incomplete filling or sealing causes losses. Maintenance: valves and bag handling systems.

Factory Layout & Building Requirements

Typical areas include raw-material storage, crushing and grinding, kiln hall, cement grinding, packing, quality control, utilities and staff facilities. Exact area is determined during engineering.

Utilities

  • Electricity: 380 V three-phase, 500–1500 kW
  • Fuel/Gas: 2000–5000 m³/h equivalent
