Ceramic Tile Production Line and Factory Setup
A ceramic tile production line is a complete industrial system designed to prepare body materials, form, dry, glaze and fire ceramic tiles under controlled process conditions. The line produces floor and wall tiles in various sizes and finishes.
From an industrial perspective, ceramic tile manufacturing is important because it combines accurate body preparation, high-pressure forming, controlled drying and glazing, and high-temperature firing to achieve consistent strength, dimensional accuracy and surface quality. The process relies on a defined sequence of unit operations that must be correctly engineered, sized and integrated.
Primary materials typically include clay, feldspar, silica, kaolin, water and glazes. The core machinery set consists of ball mills (500–2000 kg), spray dryers, hydraulic presses (50–500 kg/cm²), roller kilns (1000–1350 °C), glaze applicators and polishing/cutting lines.
The Industrial Department supports investors who want to establish a new ceramic tile plant as well as existing operators who need repair, overhaul, capacity expansion or automation of their current lines. Projects can start from an empty site or from an operating facility that requires technical upgrading.
Whether the goal is a green-field turnkey tile plant in Iraq, Kurdistan Region, Afghanistan or other regional markets, or the modernization of an existing line in Iran, engineering, machinery supply or manufacturing, installation, commissioning and ongoing technical support can be provided under defined contractual scopes.
Production Line Overview
The ceramic tile line is engineered as an integrated process system covering body preparation, spray drying, pressing, drying, glazing, firing, polishing and packaging. Design capacity is determined during the engineering phase and can typically range from 2000 to 30000 m² per day.
Main machinery groups include ball mills, spray dryers, hydraulic presses, dryers, glaze lines, roller kilns and polishing/cutting systems. Supporting infrastructure covers electrical power, gas and process water.
Manpower requirements depend on the degree of automation. Quality control covers dimensional accuracy, strength, water absorption and surface quality.

Manufacturing Process
- Body Preparation – Raw materials are ground in ball mills to form slurry.
- Spray Drying – Slurry is dried to powder.
- Pressing – Powder is pressed into tiles (50–500 kg/cm²).
- Drying and Glazing – Tiles are dried and glazed.
- Firing – Tiles are fired in roller kilns at 1000–1350 °C.
- Polishing, Cutting and Packaging – Surfaces are finished and products are packed.
Machinery & Equipment
- Ball Mill and Spray Dryer – Prepare body powder. Position: first stages. Importance: particle size and moisture control. Quality impact: incomplete grinding or drying affects strength. Maintenance: linings, media and nozzles. Sahi Rasa support covers design, installation, repair and spare parts.
- Hydraulic Press – Forms the tiles. Position: core forming stage. Importance: density and dimensional accuracy. Quality impact: incorrect pressure causes defects. Maintenance: hydraulic systems and moulds.
- Roller Kiln – Fires the tiles (1000–1350 °C). Position: core thermal stage. Importance: final strength and appearance. Quality impact: incorrect temperature profile affects quality. Maintenance: rollers, burners and controls.
- Glaze Line, Polishing and Cutting – Finish the product. Position: end of line. Importance: surface quality and size. Quality impact: incomplete finishing reduces market value. Maintenance: applicators, abrasives and cutters.
