PVC Pipe Production Line and Factory Setup

A PVC pipe production line is a complete industrial system designed to mix PVC compounds, extrude them into pipes of various diameters, cool, haul-off, cut and package the finished pipes under controlled process conditions. The line produces pressure and non-pressure PVC pipes for water supply, drainage, irrigation and electrical applications.

From an industrial perspective, PVC pipe manufacturing is important because it combines accurate compounding, twin-screw extrusion, precise calibration, controlled cooling and accurate cutting to achieve consistent diameter, wall thickness and mechanical properties. The process relies on a defined sequence of unit operations that must be correctly engineered, sized and integrated.

Primary materials typically include PVC powder or granules, stabilizers, plasticizers, fillers and colourants. The core machinery set consists of hot and cold mixers, twin-screw extruders, calibration tables, cooling tanks, haul-offs, automatic saws and packaging equipment.

The Industrial Department supports investors who want to establish a new PVC pipe plant as well as existing operators who need repair, overhaul, capacity expansion or automation of their current lines. Projects can start from an empty site or from an operating facility that requires technical upgrading.

Whether the goal is a green-field turnkey PVC pipe plant in Iraq, Kurdistan Region, Afghanistan or other regional markets, or the modernization of an existing line in Iran, engineering, machinery supply or manufacturing, installation, commissioning and ongoing technical support can be provided under defined contractual scopes.

Production Line Overview

The PVC pipe line is engineered as an integrated process system covering compounding, extrusion, calibration, cooling, haul-off, cutting and packaging. Design capacity is determined during the engineering phase and can typically range from 150 to 800 kg per hour depending on diameter and wall thickness.

Typical product specifications include diameters 16–630 mm and line speeds of 0.5–15 m/min. The overall process flow follows a defined sequence: hot and cold mixing, twin-screw extrusion, calibration and cooling, haul-off, cutting and packaging.

Main machinery groups include hot/cold mixers, twin-screw extruders, calibration tables, cooling tanks, haul-offs, automatic saws and packaging machines. Supporting infrastructure covers electrical power and process water.

Manpower requirements depend on the degree of automation. Quality control covers diameter, wall thickness, ovality and mechanical properties.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Compounding – PVC and additives are mixed in hot and cold mixers (hot mixing typically 120–150 °C).
  2. Extrusion – Compound is melted (180–220 °C) in a twin-screw extruder and formed into pipe.
  3. Calibration and Cooling – Pipe dimensions are set and the pipe is cooled.
  4. Haul-off and Cutting – Pipe is pulled and cut to length by automatic saw.
  5. Packaging – Finished pipes are bundled or packaged.

Machinery & Equipment

  • Hot and Cold Mixer – Prepares the PVC compound. Position: first stage. Importance: uniformity of formulation. Quality impact: incomplete mixing causes processing problems. Maintenance: blades, seals and temperature controls. Sahi Rasa support covers design, installation, repair and spare parts.
  • Twin-Screw Extruder – Melts and forms the pipe (diameters 16–630 mm). Position: core of the line. Importance: determines output and pipe quality. Quality impact: incorrect temperature or screw design affects surface and strength. Maintenance: screws, barrels and heaters.
  • Calibration Table and Cooling Tank – Sets outer diameter and cools the pipe. Position: after extruder. Importance: dimensional accuracy. Quality impact: incorrect vacuum or cooling causes ovality or deformation. Maintenance: vacuum system, water circulation and seals.
  • Haul-off and Automatic Saw – Pulls and cuts the pipe. Position: end of line. Importance: length accuracy and production speed. Quality impact: uneven pull affects diameter. Maintenance: belts, drives and cutting blades.

Factory Layout & Building Requirements

Typical areas include raw-material storage, compounding, extrusion hall, calibration and cooling, cutting and packaging, finished-pipe storage, quality control, utilities and staff facilities. Exact area is determined during engineering.
