Butter Production Line and Factory Setup

A butter production line is a dairy processing system designed to convert cream into butter through churning, washing, salting (optional), working, and packaging. The process yields butter with controlled moisture, fat content, and texture.

Precise control of cream ripening, churning conditions, and working is essential for consistent quality and spreadability.

Main raw materials include cream (from milk separation) and optional salt or starter cultures. Core equipment consists of separators, pasteurizers, cream ripening tanks, churns or continuous buttermakers, and packaging machines.

The Industrial Department supports new investors establishing a butter factory and existing plant owners requiring repair, overhaul, capacity expansion, or automation. Projects may start from an empty site or from an operating facility needing technical upgrading.

Engineering, machinery supply or manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and technical support can be provided for projects in Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan Region, Afghanistan, and other regional markets under defined contractual scopes.

Production Line Overview

The butter line is an integrated dairy process. Capacity is determined during engineering (typical ranges depending on churn size). The process sequence is: milk reception, separation to obtain cream, cream pasteurization and ripening, churning, washing and working, and packaging.

Main machinery includes separator (500–2000 L/h), pasteurizer, cream ripening tank (300–1000 L), churn or continuous buttermaker (100–500 L), and packaging machine (500–2000 packs/h).

Supporting infrastructure covers electrical power, steam, process water, refrigeration, and hygienic building design. Manpower is typically 4–8 persons per shift.

Support can be examined for projects in Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan Region (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok), Baghdad, Basra, Mosul, Afghanistan (Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif), Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Syria, Oman, Jordan, Turkey, Armenia, and Georgia.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Milk Reception and Separation – Milk is separated to obtain cream of suitable fat content.
  2. Cream Pasteurization and Ripening – Cream is pasteurized and held under controlled temperature for ripening.
  3. Churning – Cream is churned until butter grains form and buttermilk separates.
  4. Washing and Working – Butter grains are washed and worked to the desired moisture and texture; salt may be added.
  5. Packaging – Butter is formed and packed into blocks or portions.

Machinery & Equipment

  • Separator – Produces cream from milk.
  • Pasteurizer and Ripening Tank – Thermal treatment and controlled ripening of cream.
  • Churn / Continuous Buttermaker – Converts cream into butter grains and works the butter.
  • Packaging Machine – Forms and packs the finished butter.

Support is available for design, manufacturing or procurement, installation, commissioning, repair, overhaul, refurbishment, automation, and spare parts.

Factory Layout & Building Requirements

Typical areas: milk reception, processing hall, cold storage, packaging, utilities, laboratory, and staff facilities. Hygienic zoning is essential.

Utilities

  • Electricity: 380 V three-phase, 30–80 kW
  • Steam: 100–300 kg/h
