Porcelain Tableware Production Line and Factory Setup

A porcelain tableware production line is an industrial ceramic system designed to manufacture plates, cups, bowls, and other tableware from clay-based bodies through body preparation, forming (casting or pressing), drying, glazing, firing, decoration, and packaging. The process requires precise control of body formulation, forming, drying, and high-temperature firing to achieve strength, translucency, and surface quality.

Main raw materials include clay, kaolin, feldspar, silica, water, glaze materials, and colorants. Core equipment consists of ball mills, blungers, presses or casting systems, dryers, glazing machines or robots, tunnel kilns, and decoration equipment.

The Industrial Department supports new investors establishing a porcelain factory and existing plant owners requiring repair, overhaul, capacity expansion, or automation. Projects may start from an empty site or from an operating facility needing technical upgrading.

Engineering, machinery supply or manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and technical support can be provided for projects in Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan Region, Afghanistan, and other regional markets under defined contractual scopes.

Production Line Overview

The porcelain line is a multi-stage ceramic process. Capacity is determined during engineering (typical ranges depending on kiln size and forming method). The process sequence is: body preparation (milling and blunging), forming (isostatic pressing or slip casting), drying, glazing, firing in tunnel kiln (1200–1400 °C), decoration, and packaging.

Main machinery includes ball mill (500–2000 kg), blunger (500–1000 L), isostatic press (500–1000 pieces/h) or casting system, dryer, glazing machine or robot, tunnel kiln (length 50–100 m or more), and decoration equipment.

Supporting infrastructure covers electrical power, gas for the kiln, process water, and large building space. Manpower is typically 15–30 persons per shift. Required area is typically 1000–3000 m².

Support can be examined for projects in Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan Region (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok), Baghdad, Basra, Mosul, Afghanistan (Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif), Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Syria, Oman, Jordan, Turkey, Armenia, and Georgia.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Body Preparation – Raw materials are milled and mixed into a homogeneous body or slip.
  2. Forming – Pieces are formed by isostatic pressing or slip casting.
  3. Drying – Formed pieces are carefully dried to remove moisture.
  4. Glazing – A glaze layer is applied (manual, automatic, or robotic).
  5. Firing – Pieces are fired in a tunnel kiln at 1200–1400 °C.
  6. Decoration and Packaging – Decoration are applied if required and products are packed.

Machinery & Equipment

  • Ball Mill and Blunger – Prepare the ceramic body or slip.
  • Press or Casting System – Forms the green ware.
  • Dryer – Controlled drying of green ware.
  • Glazing Equipment – Applies the glaze layer (can be robotic).
  • Tunnel Kiln – High-temperature firing of the ware.
  • Decoration Equipment – Applies prints or hand decoration.

Support is available for design, manufacturing or procurement, installation, commissioning, repair, overhaul, refurbishment, automation, and spare parts.

Factory Layout & Building Requirements

Typical areas: raw material storage, body preparation, forming, drying, glazing, kiln hall, decoration, packaging, finished goods storage, utilities, and staff facilities. The kiln requires significant space and careful layout for heat management.

Utilities

  • Electricity: 380 V three-phase, 150–400 kW
  • Gas: 500–1500 m³/h (kiln dependent)
  • Water: 20–50 m³/day

Turnkey Factory Setup

Projects can start from an empty site and progress through feasibility, engineering, factory design, machinery, procurement, installation, commissioning, training, and commercial production according to the contractual scope.

EPC & PMC

Execution under EPC or PMC approaches is possible.

Machinery Repair

Existing lines can receive inspection, troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repair, and spare-parts support for mills, presses, kilns, and glazing systems.

Machinery Overhaul & Refurbishment

Older kilns, presses, and preparation equipment can be overhauled and controls upgraded.

Capacity Expansion

Capacity can be increased by upgrading kiln throughput, adding forming capacity, or improving drying and glazing speed.

Industrial Automation

Possible applications include robotic glazing, kiln temperature control, automatic handling, and production data logging.

Supply Chain

Stable supply of ceramic raw materials and glazes is essential. The Supply Chain Department supports sourcing and logistics.

Packaging

Finished tableware is carefully packed to prevent breakage during transport.

Branding & Product Development

When required, support can be provided for product development, design, and decoration.
